Lung Disorders, Bronchial and allergic asthma

Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disorder of the air passage. It causes repeated episodes of wheezing, breathlessness, chest tightness and coughing notably at night and early morning. It is reversible automatically or with treatment. The triggers of asthma include allergens, respiratory infection, exercise and hyperventilation, weather changes, Sulfur dioxide, food addictive and drugs.

 

COPD – Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease

They are of two types of COPD generally chronic bronchitis that is long term cough with mucus and emphysema, i.e. damage to the lungs over time. COPD is caused due to smoking but in rare case nonsmokers who lack Alpha-1 antitrypsin protein develop COPD. The risk factors include exposure to certain gases or fumes in the workplace, heavy amounts of second hand smoke and pollution and frequent use of cooking fire without proper ventilation.
