Cholesterol is sticky fat like material found naturally in our blood. Some amount of cholesterol is necessary for smooth functioning. But if it is too much it can stick to the walls of arteries. It can narrow or block the arteries which results in stroke or heart attacks. There are two types of cholesterols HDL and LDL. HDL or High-density lipoproteins are the good cholesterols that carries cholesterol back to the liver which then removes it from the body. LDL i.e. low-density lipoproteins or also called as bad cholesterol when increased causes blockage to arteries. Cholesterol is detected through blood test and can be lowered by exercise and healthy eating.
